MCMS Update - May 13 - 17, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS Families!

Happy Friday and Happy Mother's Day Weekend!  We would like to wish all of our MCMS Mother's, a wonderful weekend!  We would like to thank all of our MCMS families for helping make our Teacher Appreciation Week extra special for our teachers!  We are blessed with a dedicated staff that is committed to the success of our students.

We have nine days of school until summer break!  Remind your child to keep up the hard work in their classes and get all of their assignments completed.  Please continue to review your child's grades in the Parent Portal and on their Schoology app.  Reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades or assignments.

Erin's Law and Gavin's Law Presentation

In the year of 2014, the State of South Carolina passed Act 293 known as “Erin’s Law,” as part of health and safety education for its public schools. The intent of Erin’s Law is to give students skills in knowing how to stay safe from sexual assault and how to report any incidents of sexual assault. In addition, Gavin’s Law, Act 54 of 2023, requires local school districts to collaborate with the State Department of Education, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and the Attorney General's office, to implement a policy to educate and notify students of the provisions of Gavin’s Law. Gavin’s Law deals with educating students on how to identify sexual extortion.

On Monday, May 13th, MCMS School Counselors will be providing our students with a short informational presentation on Erin's Law and Gavin's Law.  Please feel free to email Dr. Dobyns if you have any questions about this presentation, pdobyns@sdnc.org.

Live to Give- Mental Health Awareness

One of our 7 mindsets is Live to Give. The main focus of this mindset is about serving others. As a school, we feel it is important to model this idea and life quality for our students. Each month MCMS will focus on one or more causes/themes to bring awareness too. This month our Live to Give focus will be Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental Health Month
