MCMS Update- September 17, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS Families!

Happy weekend and we hope that your family is doing well today!  It is fall time and activity around our campus is busy.  The MCMS Athletic teams had a great week, our Volleyball team picked up two wins and our Football team picked up one.  We encourage everyone come out and support our student athletes as compete against teams from around the midlands.

This Thursday (9/21/23) is Grits for Grands at Lunch!  We have almost 250 grandparents registered for this fun event.  We will send out more information to those who registered related to check-in and lunch logistics.  The lunch price will be $5.50 per guest (students are at no cost), cash only.  We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday.

Friday, we look forward to celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a school-wide assembly.  We have several students speaking in the program, the MCMS Chorus is performing, and we will have an energetic guest speaker.  We will stream this event on Facebook Live Friday morning, tune in for a great assembly.

Stay connected with your child's academic progress by monitoring grades on the Parent Portal.  Our teachers update grades weekly to make sure you and your child are receiving valuable feedback.  Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades.

7 Mindsets

MCMS is a 7 Mindsets school!  We believe that student growth occurs in a number of different areas.  One key area of student growth is social-emotional.   As a school, we educate our students in this area by using the 7 Mindsets curriculum.  Attached in the weekly email are documents outlining the 7 Mindsets curriculum and our first mindset, Everything is Possible.  Take time to review the information and to talk with your child about this important information.

Janet's Planet (7th Grade) and CSI (6th Grade)

We are excited to welcome two great in-school field studies this week.  Janet's Planet will be on campus tomorrow (9/18/23) for our 7th grade students.  We look forward to our students getting to experience STEM based activities during her visit.  The CSI: Adventures in Forensic Science field study for our 6th grade students, will also begin this week.  Students will get to experience a day full of interesting activities that may spark their interest in a future career in Forensic Science.
