MCMS Update - April 29 - May 3, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS Families!

Happy Weekend!  It was a full week of academic preparation for our upcoming state assessments.  Teachers spent time this week wrapping up final units of study and reviewing previously taught topics to make sure our students are ready.  State testing will begin on Wednesday, May 1st with SC Ready Reading.  This will be followed by SC Ready Writing on Thursday and SC Ready Writing Field Test on Friday.  Testing this week will be for all grade levels.  Make sure your child gets plenty of rest and is ready to go for testing.  We are proud of the preparation our students have done and know they will do well on the SC Ready!

Please continue to review your child's grades in the Parent Portal and on their Schoology app.  Reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades or assignments.

Summer Reading Selection DUE

On Monday, April 22nd, your child received information about selecting books for Summer Reading.  The School District of Newberry County is offering the opportunity for students to self-select 3 books to add to their home library.  The book menu is organized by your child's grade level.  Parents will assist students in selecting from a menu in Scholastic located in your child's Scholastic App on their district issued device.  This is a great opportunity to customize your Summer Reading!

The DEADLINE to select books has been extended to Monday, April 29th.  Do not delay, make your Summer Reading Selection today!

Mindset of the Week- The Time is Now

The Time Is Now Mindset teaches us the importance of harnessing the power of the moment and taking purposeful action. The simple fact is that all of our power to act and make an impact exists in this moment. We cannot change the past, and the future hasn’t happened, so we must recognize that our only path to happiness, fulfillment and meaning is to take purposeful action in the present toward creating the lives of our dreams.

7 Mindsets

Live to Give- Autism Awareness

One of our 7 mindsets is Live to Give. The main focus of this mindset is about serving others. As a school, we feel it is important to model this idea and life quality for our students. Each month MCMS will focus on one or more causes/themes to bring awareness too. This month our Live to Give focus will be Autism Awareness Month.
