Good Afternoon MCMS Families!

We hope everyone is having a great start to your weekend!  With five short weeks remaining in the school year, things are coming to a close quickly.  We will be wrapping up Spring Sports, enjoying Band and Chorus concerts, and celebrating student success with our award ceremonies.  Our students and teachers have worked hard all year and we look forward to finishing strong!

On Wednesday, our 8th grade students enjoyed there visit to MCHS this week!  Here are a few pictures from the school tour.  Let's Go Class of 2028!

The 4th quarter interim will end this week, please continue to review your child's grades in the Parent Portal and on their Schoology app.  Reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades or assignments. 

Summer Reading Selection Form

On Monday, April 22nd, your child will be receiving information about selecting a books for Summer Reading.  The School District of Newberry County is offering the opportunity for students to self-select 3 books to add to their home library.  The book menu is organized by your child's grade level.  Parents will assist students in selecting from a menu in Scholastic.  Please be on the look out for a more information coming home on Monday.  

Rising 6th Grade Parent Information Meeting- Virtual - April 23rd

We will be hosting a meeting for Rising 6th Grade Parents on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 5:30 PM.  This meeting will be held online for parents to join via Google Meet link.  We will have other on-campus opportunities for parents to see the campus and classrooms before the start of the year.  Rising 6th Grade Parents received an email from Dr. Dobyns with information on how to access the meeting.

Mindset of the Week- The Time is Now

The Time Is Now Mindset teaches us the importance of harnessing the power of the moment and taking purposeful action. The simple fact is that all of our power to act and make an impact exists in this moment. We cannot change the past, and the future hasn’t happened, so we must recognize that our only path to happiness, fulfillment and meaning is to take purposeful action in the present toward creating the lives of our dreams.

7 Mindsets

Live to Give- Autism Awareness

One of our 7 mindsets is Live to Give. The main focus of this mindset is about serving others. As a school, we feel it is important to model this idea and life quality for our students. Each month MCMS will focus on one or more causes/themes to bring awareness too. This month our Live to Give focus will be Autism Awareness Month.

Computer Collection - April 29, 2024

UPDATE: To begin preparation for state testing, ALL students will begin leaving their computers at school on Monday, April 29, 2024.  Students will have access to their devices during the school day but they will return their computer to Homeroom at the end of the day.  The computer will remain at school for the rest of the school year.

MCMS End of the Year Awards Ceremonies- May 16, 17, and 20, 2024

It has been a great year at MCMS and our students have worked very hard!  We are proud of the growth they have made and look forward to recognizing that hard work.  We are excited to announce our End of the Year Awards Ceremonies

  • 6th Grade Awards will be Thursday, May 16th at 8:05 AM in the Big Gym
  • 7th Grade Awards will be Friday, May 17th at 8:05 AM in the Big Gym
  • 8th Grade Awards and Recognition will be Monday, May 20th at 8:05 AM in the Big Gym
For those that are unable to attend the ceremonies, we will live stream the events on our school Facebook page.

Spring Testing Starting May 1st

Spring Testing is almost here!  We will begin our state SC Ready Assessments on Wednesday, May 1st.  Our students have worked hard this year and we know they will do great.  Help make sure your child is rested and ready to go for testing on May 1st!

We wish good luck to all of our student athletes participating in spring sports at MCHS.  Please come out and support them at their games.  You can find all schedules at https://mid-carolinaathletics.com/events.  Let's Go Rebels!

Good Afternoon MCMS Families! We hope you and your family are staying cool in this summer heat!  It was a great first week of the 2023-2024 school year.  Students quickly got back in the school routine and settled into their new classes.  It was great having the energy and excitement from our students back in the building for the launch another great year at MCMS! Each week you will receive this update to keep you informed and aware of what is going on at MCMS.  We will send additional reminders for special events and other important information for parents to know throughout the week. Our new school motto "Student Focused, Community Driven," is a great representation of who we are as a school.  To help improve on our school and the work we are doing, we need your help. We are looking for support from parents and community members in two areas, our SIC and PTO.  We appreciate those parents who signed up for the SIC and PTO at Open House, we will be in contact with you soon.

MCMS Back-to-School Information- July 20, 2023

MCMS Families, We would like to officially welcome everyone to the start of the 2023-2024 school year!  We are excited to begin another great year at Mid-Carolina!  We have three weeks until the first day of school and we are here to help make sure your child is ready for August 9th.  We have several back-to-school events over the next few weeks, please read over the information below to find out more details. Our first event, is our annual  Back-to-School Registration . These are scheduled for Monday, July 24th from 1:00 - 6:00 PM and Tuesday, July 25th from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM.  Registration will occur in the MCMS Cafeteria.   **If you are unable to attend back-to-school registration, no problem ! Good Afternoon MCMS Families! We hope everyone is having a great week and staying warm in these cold temperatures.  All of our students have settled into their third quarter class schedule and are continuing to grow as learners.  As we finish out January and move closer to February, pay attention to our calendar reminders in the weekly update for important upcoming events. Please continue to review your child's grades in the Parent Portal and on their Schoology app. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades or assignments.  As a reminder, we have Parent Teacher conferences scheduled for this upcoming Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.
