Good Afternoon MCMS Families!

We hope everyone had a great week! We enjoyed celebrating our students that earned A Honor Roll, A/B Honor Roll, and Honorable Mention Honor Roll during the 3rd Nine Weeks Award Ceremony.  We are proud of the academic growth and accomplishments of our students.  Keep up the hard work!

Spring Break is a week away and we are all looking forward to having some much needed rest as we get ready for the final few weeks of the year.  Good luck to our Band as they will perform at the Concert Performance Assessment on Tuesday.  We would also like to wish good luck to our MCMS Archery Team as they compete at the State Meet on Thursday!  Let's Go MCMS!  

Reminder: School offices will be closed from Friday, March 29th through Friday, April 5th.  Please feel free to reach out to the main office if you have any questions related to end of the year events.

Please continue to review your child's grades in the Parent Portal and on their Schoology app.  Reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades or assignments.

MCMS Academic Team- State Runners-Up

Congratulations to the MCMS Academic Team who were State Runners-Up at the State Championship of Academics.  The State Championships were held at Winthrop University on Friday, March 22nd.  Our team worked hard throughout the season and put forth an amazing effort.  Your parents, teachers, school, and community are proud of you!

Mindset of the Week- Live to Give

The Live to Give Mindset teaches the importance of serving others while maximizing our own potential. It tells us that abundance in life is a cycle; in order to receive love, respect, and financial security, we must first learn to give those things to others. This mindset also teaches us that the greatest gift we can ever give is to find and leverage our unique genius to maximize our positive impact on the world, knowing that good things will be returned to us in kind.

Live to Give- Women's History

One of our 7 mindsets is Live to Give. The main focus of this mindset is about serving others. As a school, we feel it is important to model this idea and life quality for our students. Each month MCMS will focus on one or more causes/themes to bring awareness too. This month our Live to Give focus will be celebrating Women's History Month.

SC School Climate Survey

We need feedback from our MCMS Parents.  The SC School Climate Survey is available for parents to complete in the Parent Portal or accessing it with instructions from the form we sent home.  This annual survey provides valuable feedback to our school.  Thank you for participating in this survey and helping!

MCMS PTO Spring Fundraiser

We appreciate those families that have participated in our Spring Fundraiser.  We have a few days left in the fundraiser and we would love to have everyone join in selling items.  All proceeds will come back to MCMS and support our ongoing projects for school improvement.

Job Shadow Reflection Forms and Thank You Note Reminder

We hope our students had amazing experiences during Job Shadow Day.  We would like to thank all of the businesses that hosted our students and gave them a chance to see future careers.  Please remember to turn in your Job Shadow Reflection Forms and Thank You Notes to your Homeroom teachers on Monday.  Those are required for documentation of attendance on your Job Shadow Day.

MCMS Athletics

We wish good luck to all of our student athletes participating in spring sports at MCHS.  Please come out and support them at their games.  You can find all schedules at https://mid-carolinaathletics.com/events.  Let's Go Rebels!

MC Cheer open practices in March for the 2024-2025 season. Anyone grade 7 through 11 who is interested in cheer at Mid Carolina High School OR Mid Carolina Middle School are invited to attend. Open practices will be Monday & Friday in the Small Gym for the month of March. Mondays we will practice from 4:00 – 6:00 and Fridays 3:30 – 5:30.
  • You do not have to attend open practices in order to try out for next year, but you are encouraged to attend. 
  • If you are participating in a spring sport and, therefore cannot attend open practices, but you are interested in trying out next year please email Coach Holly at hwerts@sdnc.org
You are also invited to attend our Team Training Classes at ACX on Wednesdays from 4:30 – 6:00 Anyone 6th – 11th grade is able to sign up!

AXC Mid Carolina Training Class
Cost is $50 per month
Class is every Wednesday 4:30 – 6:00
When signing up either follow the link below or be sure to mention you are signing up for the Mid Carolina Open Interest Class: https://www.acxcheer.com/Cheerleading/classes  
  • Class is for anyone interested in cheering for the MC Cheer Program
  • No previous cheer experience required
*You do not have to participate in order to try out in the spring. This is an opportunity to learn and practice the sport to help prepare for tryouts in the spring.

Good Afternoon MCMS Families! We hope you and your family are staying cool in this summer heat!  It was a great first week of the 2023-2024 school year.  Students quickly got back in the school routine and settled into their new classes.  It was great having the energy and excitement from our students back in the building for the launch another great year at MCMS! Each week you will receive this update to keep you informed and aware of what is going on at MCMS.  We will send additional reminders for special events and other important information for parents to know throughout the week. Our new school motto "Student Focused, Community Driven," is a great representation of who we are as a school.  To help improve on our school and the work we are doing, we need your help. We are looking for support from parents and community members in two areas, our SIC and PTO.  We appreciate those parents who signed up for the SIC and PTO at Open House, we will be in contact with you soon.

MCMS Back-to-School Information- July 20, 2023

MCMS Families, We would like to officially welcome everyone to the start of the 2023-2024 school year!  We are excited to begin another great year at Mid-Carolina!  We have three weeks until the first day of school and we are here to help make sure your child is ready for August 9th.  We have several back-to-school events over the next few weeks, please read over the information below to find out more details. Our first event, is our annual  Back-to-School Registration . These are scheduled for Monday, July 24th from 1:00 - 6:00 PM and Tuesday, July 25th from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM.  Registration will occur in the MCMS Cafeteria.   **If you are unable to attend back-to-school registration, no problem ! Good Afternoon MCMS Families! We hope everyone is having a great week and staying warm in these cold temperatures.  All of our students have settled into their third quarter class schedule and are continuing to grow as learners.  As we finish out January and move closer to February, pay attention to our calendar reminders in the weekly update for important upcoming events.
