MCMS Update - March 11 - 15, 2024
Good Afternoon MCMS Families!
We hope all of our families have had a great week! We are proud to announce that the MCMS Academic Team qualified for the State Championship! The students have worked hard this year and we look forward to seeing them compete on March 22nd at Winthrop University for the State Championship! Thank you to our staff who has helped prepare them and our parents who have provided amazing support. Let's Go MCMS!
We will end the 3rd nine weeks on Wednesday, March 13th. Follow up with your child to see if they have any missing work. We also recommend that you continue to review your child's grades in the Parent Portal and on their Schoology app. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades or assignments.
i-Ready Spring Benchmark Testing - March 11th and 13th
iReady is a standards based computer program that the district uses to track reading and math academic progress. The progress on this benchmark test is a great predictor on how students will score on the state SCREADY tests in May. We also use the results from the spring benchmark for placement into accelerate math and ELA classes.
We will have our final i-Ready Benchmark testing this upcoming week. Students will take the i-Ready Reading assessment on Monday, March 11th and the i-Ready Math assessment on Wednesday, March 13th. Students will be recognized if they have achieved their Typical Growth or Stretch Growth. Typical Growth is the average annual growth for a student at their grade and baseline placement level. Stretch Growth is a target set for students to show they are at or above grade level in reading or math. We look forward to seeing our students reach their Stretch Growth!

Mindset of the Week- Live to Give
The Live to Give Mindset teaches the importance of serving others while maximizing our own
potential. It tells us that abundance in life is a cycle; in order to receive love, respect, and financial
security, we must first learn to give those things to others. This mindset also teaches us that the
greatest gift we can ever give is to find and leverage our unique genius to maximize our positive
impact on the world, knowing that good things will be returned to us in kind.
Live to Give- Women's History
One of our 7 mindsets is Live to Give. The main focus of this mindset is about serving others. As a school, we feel it is important to model this idea and life quality for our students. Each month MCMS will focus on one or more causes/themes to bring awareness too. This month our Live to Give focus will be celebrating Women's History Month.SC School Climate Survey
We need feedback from our MCMS Parents. The SC School Climate Survey is available for parents to complete. Parents received a letter and email with information on how to access the survey this past week. This annual survey provides valuable feedback to our school. Thank you for participating in this survey and helping!
