MCMS Update - November 13 - 17, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS Families!

Happy Friday and Happy Veterans Day to all of our MCMS Families!  We enjoyed a fantastic Veterans Day Breakfast and Assembly yesterday.  The MCMS Chorus and Band did a great job with their performances, we had good student speakers, and a powerful message from our guest speaker, Mr. Steven Diaz.  Thank you to our Veterans who were in attendance, we are grateful for your service to our country.

Enjoy a few pictures from our Veterans Day Assembly!

Mindset of the Week- Passion First

7 Mindsets Image
The Passion First Mindset teaches us that we are all unique expressions of human existence. It’s vital to find out what our individual strengths and talents are so that we might connect them with our goals and visions for the future. In this mindset, we work with students to understand their unique gifts, their skills and strengths, and how to share them with the world to the maximum extent possible. Not only will they explore their interests, they will begin to identify their core values and what they stand for.

The next step is helping them learn how to make their dreams into reality, tapping into both the courage and perseverance needed to overcome any challenges they encounter in pursuit of the lives they desire.

Live to Give November- Canned Food Drive

Can Food Drive
One of our 7 mindsets is Live to Give.  The main focus of this mindset is about serving others.  As a school, we feel it is important to model this idea and life quality for our students.  Each month MCMS will focus on one or more causes to bring awareness too.  This month our Live to Give cause will be a Canned Food Drive.

MCMS Celebrates American Education Week

MCMS is excited to celebrate American Education Week!  This event happens the week prior to the week of Thanksgiving each year.  The week is designated to honor the team of people who work in our nation’s public schools, everyone from the bus driver and classroom teacher to the cafeteria worker and administrative staff, plus countless others.

Join us in celebrating all of the individuals who work in our schools and provide an amazing educational opportunity for our students.  Reach out to these professionals and thank them for all they do for MCMS and the School District of Newberry County!

MCMS PTO Fall Fundraiser - #MovingMCMS

The MCMS PTO would like to announce our Fall School-Wide Fundraiser will be starting on Monday November 13th.  The goal of #MovingMCMS is to help move Mid-Carolina Middle School forward in providing the best education environment and opportunities for our students.  This year we will be raising funds for MCMS teacher support, a new projector and screen for our gymnasium (we began raising funds for this last year), and updating our outdoor areas.  This fundraiser will be a five day homeroom donation competition.  We are asking students to bring loose change and cash donations to your homeroom teacher. The winning homerooms will earn the right to "Pie a Principal!"

On Monday, November 21st, the top three homerooms will get to pie Dr. Dobyns, Mr. Thompson, and Mr. Jones on the morning announcements!

Thank you for supporting our school!
