Good Afternoon MCMS Families!

Happy Labor Day Weekend!  We hope that all of our families are enjoying an extra long weekend and extra rest.  We finished another great week at MCMS with a fun Pep Rally on Friday, honoring our fall sport student athletes and ending with a Faculty/Student Volleyball game!  Everyone had a great time and the girls team took home the win.  Check out a couple of pictures from the Pep Rally.

Stay connected with your child's academic progress by monitoring grades on the Parent Portal.  Our teachers update grades weekly to make sure you and your child are receiving valuable feedback.  Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades.

First Quarter Interim Grading Period Reminder

The school year is going quick and we are approaching the midway point of our first quarter.  The first quarter interim grading period will conclude on September 13th.  MCMS will not be printing off interim reports this year.  We encourage all of our parents and students to stay up-to-date with grades on the Parent Portal.

Mid-Carolina Middle School Academic Team Tryouts and Information

The Mid-Carolina Middle School Academic Team consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students from Mid-Carolina Middle School. These students compete in teams of 4 against schools from our area and across the Upstate. They answer Jeopardy!-like questions in all subject areas. 

If your child is selected to be member of the MCMS Academic Team, they will have practice from 3:10-4:00 PM in room 118 (dates TBD but will be announced in advance). The team will travel to Laurens, Newberry, and other areas around Greenwood and Clinton for scrimmages in January and February. In late February/early March, the team will compete in the Academic Bowl.  All scrimmages and the Academic Bowl will occur after school. The coaches are Lindsay Boozer, Jamie Thompson, and Janna Richardson.

Information about the MCMS Academic Team Tryouts

MCMS Academic Team Tryouts will be held this year on Monday, September 11 from 3:10-5:10 PM (6th graders only) & Thursday, September 14 from 3:10 to 5:10 PM (7th & 8th graders only) in Ms. Janna Richardson’s room (room 118 on the 6th grade hall). On their assigned day, students should report to Ms. Richardson’s room immediately after school and be picked up in the 6th/7th grade car line at 5:10 PM.

In order for your student to participate in MCMS Academic Team Tryouts, this Google Form must be submitted by Friday, September 8.https://forms.gle/buBwdLFYrr3wdBNh9

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and School Improvement Council (SIC) Meeting Soon

Thank you to those parents who have expressed interest in serving on the MCMS PTO and SIC.  Both groups will have first of the year meetings on September 18th (PTO) and September 19th (SIC).  Dr. Dobyns will be sending communication this week to those who signed up to participate in these groups.  We are excited to begin working with these groups and positively impacting our school.

MCMS Athletics

Our MCMS Volleyball and Football teams will be in competition this week.  Volleyball will have away games on Tuesday and Thursday, both starting at 5:30 PM.  Our Football team has their first home game on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.  Good luck to both teams!

Good Afternoon MCMS Families! We hope you and your family are staying cool in this summer heat!  It was a great first week of the 2023-2024 school year.  Students quickly got back in the school routine and settled into their new classes.  It was great having the energy and excitement from our students back in the building for the launch another great year at MCMS! MCMS Update- September 17, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS Families! Happy weekend and we hope that your family is doing well today!  It is fall time and activity around our campus is busy.  The MCMS Athletic teams had a great week, our Volleyball team picked up two wins and our Football team picked up one.  We encourage everyone come out and support our student athletes as compete against teams from around the midlands.  This Thursday (9/21/23) is Grits for Grands at Lunch !  We have almost 250 grandparents registered for this fun event.  We will send out more information to those who registered related to check-in and lunch logistics.  The lunch price will be $5.50 per guest (students are at no cost), cash only .  We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday. Friday, we look forward to celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a school-wide assembly.  We have several students speaking in the program, the MCMS Chorus is performing, and we will have an energetic guest speaker....

MCMS Update - May 20 - 24, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS Families! Happy Last Friday of the school year!  We have four short days of school left until Summer Break!  We have had fun wrapping up our end of the year activities and closing out another great year at MCMS.  We would like to thank our students, parents, teachers, and community members for all of your support during the year.  We hope everyone has a relaxing summer and we can't wait to see you back in August! On Thursday, May 16th, we inducted our newest group of Junior Beta Club students.  We are excited to see this group serve our school and community.      MCMS End of the Year Awards Ceremonies- May 20, 2024 We have enjoyed celebrating the accomplishments of our 6th and 7th grade students this week.  We have so many talented students and are proud of there hard work.  Our 8th grade class will have there end of the year awards on Monday.  We look forward to honoring the Class of 2028! 8th Grade Awards and P...
