MCMS Update- September 10, 2023
Good Afternoon MCMS Families!
We hope that you and your family are having a great weekend! This week will mark the halfway point of the 1st quarter of school. Students are doing a great job in their classes and staying busy with school activities. On Monday, we will be recognizing the tragic events of 9/11 in our social studies classes.
Stay connected with your child's academic progress by monitoring grades on the Parent Portal. Our teachers update grades weekly to make sure you and your child are receiving valuable feedback. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades.
Please read below for your MCMS Update for September 11th - 15th, please reach out to the main office (803-364-3634) if you have any questions.

Grits for Grands at Lunch
We are excited to bring back "Grits for Grands" to celebrate our amazing grandparents at MCMS. For this year's event, we will be having Breakfast for Lunch! The event will be Thursday, September 21st at each grade level lunch. The cost will be $5 cash for each attendee (MCMS students are free). Grandparents will need to complete the Grits Grands at Lunch Sign-Up Form. If you have students in multiple grade levels, please fill a form out for each student.
A separate email will be sent to all families on Monday (September 11th) with an additional paper sign up form. Sign ups will be due by Thursday, September 14th.
Field Studies and Experiences
We are excited to bring back Field Studies and Experiences for all of our grade levels this year. Over the last few years we have been limited in the opportunities we could provide for our students. We will be offering off-campus Field Studies and Experiences for each grade. As we finalize details, we will be sending more information home.
Our 8th grade class will not be going to Washington, DC this year. The rising cost for this trip, along with a number of other factors, prevented us from planning this trip. There will be an off-campus field study for 8th grade, we will send information out once all details are planned.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Dr. Dobyns at pdobyns@sdnc.org.
MCMS Athletics
Our MCMS Volleyball and Football teams will be in competition this week. Volleyball will have away games on Tuesday and Thursday, both starting at 5:30 PM. Our Football team has their first home game on Wednesday at 6:00 PM. Good luck to both teams!
If you have any questions about MCMS athletics or your child's athletic participation, please reach out to our Athletic Director, Coach David Meetze (dmeetze@sdnc.org).
Thank you for your constant support of our teachers and school. Mid-Carolina is a great school with a great community!
