Good Afternoon MCMS Families!

We hope that everyone is having a great weekend!  We are excited to welcome cooler weather this week as we move from August to September.  On campus this week, we are excited for our first home Volleyball game on Tuesday and our first PEP Rally on Friday.  The week will conclude with a long weekend and a chance for everyone to get some extra rest.  

Stay connected with your child's academic progress by monitoring grades on the Parent Portal.  Our teachers update grades weekly to make sure you and your child are receiving valuable feedback.  Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades.

PSAT for 8th Grade Students

Attention 8th grade students and parents.  We are offering our 8th grade students the opportunity to take a college readiness assessment this fall.  We will be administering the PSAT 8/9 on October 26th.  The PSAT is geared toward preparing students to take the SAT college entrance assessment. For more information on the PSAT 8/9, please visit the College Board website.  We are also administering the PSAT NMSQT on October 26th to qualifying students, those students have already been notified.  For additional questions, please contact Mrs. Dixon (cdixon@sdnc.org) or Mrs. Valentine (svalentine@sdnc.org).



Technology Fee

This is the last week you will be able to pay the technology fee.  You have until September 1st to pay the $25 fee.  We strongly encourage families to take advantage of this fee for the potential cost savings it provides you.  The fee can be paid through the Parent Portal account.

Mid-Carolina Middle School Academic Team Tryouts and Information

The Mid-Carolina Middle School Academic Team consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students from Mid-Carolina Middle School. These students compete in teams of 4 against schools from our area and across the Upstate. They answer Jeopardy!-like questions in all subject areas. 

If your child is selected to be member of the MCMS Academic Team, they will have practice from 3:10-4:00 PM in room 118 (dates TBD but will be announced in advance). The team will travel to Laurens, Newberry, and other areas around Greenwood and Clinton for scrimmages in January and February. In late February/early March, the team will compete in the Academic Bowl.  All scrimmages and the Academic Bowl will occur after school. The coaches are Lindsay Boozer, Jamie Thompson, and Janna Richardson.

Information about the MCMS Academic Team Tryouts

MCMS Academic Team Tryouts will be held this year on Monday, September 11 from 3:10-5:10 PM (6th graders only) & Thursday, September 14 from 3:10 to 5:10 PM (7th & 8th graders only) in Ms. Janna Richardson’s room (room 118 on the 6th grade hall). On their assigned day, students should report to Ms. Richardson’s room immediately after school and be picked up in the 6th/7th grade car line at 5:10 PM.

Supervision for MCMS and MCHS Athletic Events

We are excited to begin hosting on campus athletic events this week.  This is a reminder that students attending any MCMS or MCHS must be accompanied by an adult.  The adult must stay the entire game.

Our MCMS Volleyball team will be back in competition this week.  They will have a home game on Tuesday starting at 5:30 PM and an away game on Thursday.  Both games will be against Fairfield Central Middle School.  Our Football team will also compete this week, they will participate in a preseason jamboree on Wednesday at Batesburg-Leesville.  If you have any questions about MCMS athletics or your child's athletic participation, please reach out to our Athletic Director, Coach David Meetze (dmeetze@sdnc.org).

Good Afternoon MCMS Families! We hope you and your family are staying cool in this summer heat!  It was a great first week of the 2023-2024 school year.  Students quickly got back in the school routine and settled into their new classes.  It was great having the energy and excitement from our students back in the building for the launch another great year at MCMS! MCMS Update - May 20 - 24, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS Families! Happy Last Friday of the school year!  We have four short days of school left until Summer Break!  We have had fun wrapping up our end of the year activities and closing out another great year at MCMS.  We would like to thank our students, parents, teachers, and community members for all of your support during the year.  We hope everyone has a relaxing summer and we can't wait to see you back in August! MCMS Update- September 17, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS Families! Happy weekend and we hope that your family is doing well today!  It is fall time and activity around our campus is busy.  The MCMS Athletic teams had a great week, our Volleyball team picked up two wins and our Football team picked up one.  We encourage everyone come out and support our student athletes as compete against teams from around the midlands.  This Thursday (9/21/23) is Grits for Grands at Lunch !  We have almost 250 grandparents registered for this fun event.  We will send out more information to those who registered related to check-in and lunch logistics.  The lunch price will be $5.50 per guest (students are at no cost), cash only .  We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday. Friday, we look forward to celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a school-wide assembly.  We have several students speaking in the program, the MCMS Chorus is performing, and we will have an energetic guest speaker....
