MCMS Update - May 6 - 10, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS Families!

We hope everyone had a great week and enjoyed the summer weather!  We had three great days of testing, students worked very hard and we look forward to seeing awesome growth from everyone.  We have another week of testing coming up with SC Ready Math on Wednesday and SC Ready Science (6th Grade Only) on Thursday.  We hope our students get plenty of rest this weekend and comeback ready to go!

We have three short weeks of school left before summer break!  Time will go by quickly, help make sure your child is completing all assignments, projects, and is finishing strong.  Please continue to review your child's grades in the Parent Portal and on their Schoology app.  Reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades or assignments. 

Teacher Appreciation Week

Help join us in celebrating the great teachers we have at MCMS!  In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, we are asking students and parents to take part in Thanking our teachers.  Below you will find a week of different ways you can show your Appreciation to our staff.  Let's get things started on Monday by bringing in a teacher's favorite school supply! 

Help Needed- Teacher Appreciation Week Duty Free Lunch

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, we are giving are our teachers a Duty-Free lunch on Friday, May 10th.  We need help from our amazing parents to come volunteer to cover lunch.  Please sign up on the MCMS Teacher Support- Duty Free Lunch (5/10/24) form.  Thank you for your ongoing support of our teachers!

Mindset of the Week- The Time is Now

The Time Is Now Mindset teaches us the importance of harnessing the power of the moment and taking purposeful action. The simple fact is that all of our power to act and make an impact exists in this moment. We cannot change the past, and the future hasn’t happened, so we must recognize that our only path to happiness, fulfillment and meaning is to take purposeful action in the present toward creating the lives of our dreams.

Live to Give- Mental Health Awareness

One of our 7 mindsets is Live to Give. The main focus of this mindset is about serving others. As a school, we feel it is important to model this idea and life quality for our students. Each month MCMS will focus on one or more causes/themes to bring awareness too. This month our Live to Give focus will be Mental Health Awareness Month.

MCMS End of the Year Awards Ceremonies- May 16, 17, and 20, 2024

It has been a great year at MCMS and our students have worked very hard!  We are proud of the growth they have made and look forward to recognizing that hard work.  We are excited to announce our End of the Year Awards Ceremonies

• 6th Grade Awards will be Thursday, May 16th at 8:05 AM in the Big Gym
• 7th Grade Awards will be Friday, May 17th at 8:05 AM in the Big Gym
• 8th Grade Awards and Promotion will be Monday, May 20th at 8:05 AM in the Big Gym

For those that are unable to attend the ceremonies, we will live stream the events on our school Facebook page.

Related Art Selection for 2024-2025

Attention rising 7th and 8th grade families, over the next week we will be sending out a Google Form for students to make selections for Related Arts classes for the 2024-2025 school year.  We are excited to offer a couple of new classes next year, Computer Science (7th grade only next year) and ProTeam (7th and 8th grade).  We will send the electronic selection form and information about each class to everyone via email.  We cannot guarantee every student will get their preferences, but we will do our best to try.

8th Grade Dance - Friday, May 10th - 5:30 - 7:30 PM

We are excited to announce that the MCMS 8th Grade Dance will take place on Friday, May 10th from 5:30 - 7:30 PM.  The dance will take place in the MCMS Cafeteria.  The dance is only open to current MCMS 8th graders and students MUST have a ticket for the event.  Tickets will cost $15 and will be on sale during lunch on Friday, May 3rd, Monday May 6th, and Tuesday, May 7th.  Don't miss out, it will be a fun event for everyone!

MCMS Archery BBQ Fundraiser

Please consider supporting our MCMS Archery team by purchasing a fundraiser plate from Shealy's!  Contact Coach Traylor at MCMSArchery@gmail.com if you are interested in supporting our team.  Plates will be available for Pick-Up on May 21, 2024 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
