MCMS Update - December 4 -8, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS Families!

Happy December 1st!  It was another great week at MCMS!  Our 6th grade students had their field study to Roper Mountain in Greenville.  The students enjoyed several fun, science based activities during the trip.  Today, we had our last club day of first semester.  Students took part kickball, Lego building, recycling, automotive, softball, and many more fun activities.  Next week, we will begin our "A Very Merry- Mid-Carolina" 12 dress days until winter break.  We look forward to all of the fun dress days!

Mindset of the Week- We are Connected

The We Are Connected Mindset teaches us that everyone who comes into our lives can help us to achieve and live our dreams. Working with, for, and through others is crucial to realizing our dreams. When you understand this and constantly seek the positives from relationships with others, your performance in every area of your life improves. In the lessons for this mindset, we help students explore synergies with others, embrace diversity, and relish the competition that will allow them to maximize their potential by working with and through others.

7 Mindsets

Live to Give December- Angel Tree

One of our 7 mindsets is Live to Give. The main focus of this mindset is about serving others. As a school, we feel it is important to model this idea and life quality for our students. Each month MCMS will focus on one or more causes to bring awareness too. This month our Live to Give cause will be Angel Tree.

iReady Winter Benchmark Testing

All students will be completing their winter iReady benchmark testing next week.  This assessment will measure our students growth in Reading and Math.  Our students have been working hard all year and we look forward to seeing that hard work pay off.  We will be taking iReady Reading on Tuesday, December 5th and iReady Math on Thursday, December 7th.  Be sure to ask your child how much they grew in each area after they have completed testing next week.

Make Up School Picture Day

We will have our Make Up School Picture Day on Friday, December 8th.  Students who missed the first school picture will be able to get their picture taken at that time.  Pictures will occur in the morning.

MCMS Athletics

Good luck to our Girls and Boys Basketball teams as they return to competition next week.  We would also like to wish good luck to our wrestling team in their upcoming competitions.  We are proud of all of our student athletes at MCMS!

If you have any questions about MCMS athletics or your child's athletic participation, please reach out to our Athletic Director, Coach David Meetze (dmeetze@sdnc.org).

Thank you for your constant support of our teachers and school. Mid-Carolina is a great school with a great community!
