MCMS Update - December 11 - 15, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS Families!

We would like to thank the Mid-Carolina community for your support of our students, staff, and school this week.  This community of support will help heal and strengthen us as we move forward in the days, weeks, and months ahead. We will continue to have school counselors available to assist anyone during this time.

As we are wrapping up the first semester, please make sure your child is completing all assignments and preparing for any upcoming assessments.  Our English 1 and Algebra 1 classes will be having district mid-term assessments this coming week.  Please review your child's grades in the Parent Portal and on their Schoology app. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades or assignments.

MCMS 2023-2024 Field Studies

This coming Monday (12/11/23) our 7th graders will travel to Camp Thunderbird.  8th grade will receive information regarding their field study in the second semester.

Mindset of the Week- We are Connected

The We Are Connected Mindset teaches us that everyone who comes into our lives can help us to achieve and live our dreams. Working with, for, and through others is crucial to realizing our dreams. When you understand this and constantly seek the positives from relationships with others, your performance in every area of your life improves. In the lessons for this mindset, we help students explore synergies with others, embrace diversity, and relish the competition that will allow them to maximize their potential by working with and through others.

Live to Give December- Angel Tree

One of our 7 mindsets is Live to Give. The main focus of this mindset is about serving others. As a school, we feel it is important to model this idea and life quality for our students. Each month MCMS will focus on one or more causes to bring awareness too. This month our Live to Give cause will be Angel Tree.

iReady Growth

iReady is a computer program that the district uses to track reading and math academic progress.  Over the last three days, students have completed their iReady Winter Benchmark testing.  We have seen tremendous growth from our students and are proud of their success!  They have worked hard this year and it is paying off.  Please ask your child to tell you how much they have grown in each area.  The progress on this benchmark test is a great predictor on how they will score on the state SCREADY tests in the spring.

We have enjoyed several fun dress days this week and look forward to our next set of days as we get closer to winter break!

MCMS Athletics - Boy Tennis Announcement

Boys Tennis will start up soon at MCHS.  All boys from 7th grade to 12th grade are welcome to join us.  Everyone wanting to participate must have all of their athletic forms uploaded in PlanetHS before the season starts.  Please have this done by the middle of January so it can be approved in time for practices.  Those boys wishing to participate will supply their own racket and appropriate tennis shoes.  Questions can be directed to Glynnis Abraham, Assistant Coach at MCHSTennisTeams@gmail.com.

Good Afternoon MCMS Families! We hope you and your family are staying cool in this summer heat!  It was a great first week of the 2023-2024 school year.  Students quickly got back in the school routine and settled into their new classes.  It was great having the energy and excitement from our students back in the building for the launch another great year at MCMS! Each week you will receive this update to keep you informed and aware of what is going on at MCMS.  We will send additional reminders for special events and other important information for parents to know throughout the week. MCMS Update- September 17, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS Families! Happy weekend and we hope that your family is doing well today!  It is fall time and activity around our campus is busy.  The MCMS Athletic teams had a great week, our Volleyball team picked up two wins and our Football team picked up one.  We encourage everyone come out and support our student athletes as compete against teams from around the midlands.  This Thursday (9/21/23) is Grits for Grands at Lunch !  We have almost 250 grandparents registered for this fun event.  We will send out more information to those who registered related to check-in and lunch logistics.  The lunch price will be $5.50 per guest (students are at no cost), cash only .  We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday. Friday, we look forward to celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a school-wide assembly.  We have several students speaking in the program, the MCMS Chorus is performing, and we will have an energetic guest speaker....

MCMS Update - May 20 - 24, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS Families! Happy Last Friday of the school year!  We have four short days of school left until Summer Break!  We have had fun wrapping up our end of the year activities and closing out another great year at MCMS.  We would like to thank our students, parents, teachers, and community members for all of your support during the year.  We hope everyone has a relaxing summer and we can't wait to see you back in August! On Thursday, May 16th, we inducted our newest group of Junior Beta Club students.  We are excited to see this group serve our school and community.      MCMS End of the Year Awards Ceremonies- May 20, 2024 We have enjoyed celebrating the accomplishments of our 6th and 7th grade students this week.  We have so many talented students and are proud of there hard work.  Our 8th grade class will have there end of the year awards on Monday.  We look forward to honoring the Class of 2028! 8th Grade Awards and P...
