MCMS Update - October 22, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS Families!
We hope all of our families are having a fantastic weekend!  October has been a great month of activity around the MCMS campus.  As we enter the last full week of the month, we are excited to celebrate Red Ribbon Week and making a commitment to live a drug free life!  We look forward to seeing everyone participate in the fun dress days we have this week.  Read below for more information on Red Ribbon Week.
Red Ribbon Week

We would like to wish good luck to our 8th grade students who are participating in the PSAT on Thursday, October 26th.  The PSAT is a form of the SAT, which is a college readiness assessment.  This assessment will give them an idea of what they would potentially score on the real SAT.  Our goal is that all MCMS students will leave our school beginning to develop the needed skills to become College or Career Ready.

Stay connected with your child's academic progress by monitoring grades on the Parent Portal.  Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions related to grades.

Please read below for your MCMS Update for October 23rd - 27th, please reach out to the main office (803-364-3634) if you have any questions.

Mindset of the Week- Passion First

7 Mindsets Image
The Passion First Mindset teaches us that we are all unique expressions of human existence. It’s vital to find out what our individual strengths and talents are so that we might connect them with our goals and visions for the future. In this mindset, we work with students to understand their unique gifts, their skills and strengths, and how to share them with the world to the maximum extent possible. Not only will they explore their interests, they will begin to identify their core values and what they stand for.

The next step is helping them learn how to make their dreams into reality, tapping into both the courage and perseverance needed to overcome any challenges they encounter in pursuit of the lives they desire.

Live to Give October- Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
One of our 7 mindsets is Live to Give.  The main focus of this mindset is about serving others.  As a school, we feel it is important to model this idea and life quality for our students.  Each month MCMS will focus on one or more causes to bring awareness too.  This month our Live to Give cause will be Breast Cancer Awareness.

Wizard of Oz Auditions

We are excited to announce auditions for the School District of Newberry County district musical.  This year the district will be putting on the Wizard of Oz.  Please click here for audition information.
